The medical articles field, in which Plastimac Group has had a presence for many years supplying many Plastiblow blow moulding machines, is becoming one of the most interesting niche markets for the extrusion-blow moulding. Many polymeric materials are used for medical articles production: from HDPE and LDPE to PVC and PET, from PP and PC to thermo-polymers such as Teflon and polyeteramides. The choice of the most suitable material holds a predominant importance in this field, in particular when the application concerns the manufacture of a device that is in directly contact with the human tissue, or an apparatus that must sustain continuous sterilizations in an autoclave. In the past, Plastiblow have designed many blow moulding machines for the production of medical articles such as test-tube and pipes for laboratory analysis, little pumps for ECG suction cups made in thermoplastic rubber, soft PVC bags and Teflon or Ultem articles for hospital use, inhalers and feeding-bottles made in Makrolon, polypropylene bottles for physiologic solutions, PVC dialysis tubes, as well as little bottle for pills, eye-wash or nasal drops made in PE, PVC or PETG. Each of these projects has produced specific problems of planning, design and setting, sometimes requiring the use of special metallic alloys suitable for very high working temperatures necessary for the processing of unusual plastic materials. The knowledge of its own capacities, based on their experience of forty years in extrusion-blow moulding field, allows Plastiblow to transform the continuous technical challenges that customers present into stimulating opportunities to growth. Their blow moulding machine mod. PB 500/S is a particular commercial success in the medical articles field. This is a very simple yet reliable machine, distinguished for its exclusive technical solutions, careful engineering, precision of running and high productivity. This model has also been made with a sextuple head with 50 mm. centres, complete with automatisms for the control, the manipulation and the cartoning of medical articles made by the machine; all these operations are directly controlled by the blow moulding machine control unite. Other more complex solutions have been added and have allowed the study of blow moulding machines suitable for very high productions with 1000 mm. stroke (PB30/S) and 32 cavities moulds. In the medical articles field the new electric blow moulding machines are a real success, in particular for the total absence of any hydraulic devices or components which avoids any contamination of the products or of the atmosphere and allows the use of the machine in sterilie rooms and in controlled atmospheres. With these new generation blow-moulding machines Plastiblow has been able to develop the advantages of its own kinematics motion, with the technology of the electric axes driven by brushless motors. This has produced many advantages such as: * Consistency of movements, because, without oil, there are no differences in movement when the working temperatures changes. * More production, thanks to faster cycling and the reduction of production scrap due to more consistent movements. * Lower running costs due to less energy consumptions * Lower maintenance costs due to the lack of hydraulics components. * Reduction of environment contamination due to the absence of oil and reduced noise levels.
